Hubby and I with Nichole (step daughter) went to Walmart last night and got our fishing license. Hubby had been wanting to go fishing but the fishing license we got last year had already expired. I told hubby to just get one for him and Nichole so we could save coz it cost $30 for each fishing license plus additional charge if you use two fishing poles. But hubby said I can't use the fishing poles and go fishing without my fishing license and so he got one for me too. It's time to get some sleep, it's been late and my eyes are so tired and are half closed now. I'm surely be going to bed soon. Tiget my brat cat just settled down after being so hyper running around the living room. She does that every night before we go to bed. She stays in the living room most of the time maybe waiting for me when I will be going to bed as she always sleeps on our bed. TB Skin Test

Hubby and I went to the Health Department for my TB Skin test as one of the requirements for my Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) Training Class this coming August. I thought that a blood sample would be taken out from my arm for the TB Skin test but hubby told me last night that the nurse would just inject A purified protein derivative (PPD) solution that contains Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigens, (but not live bacteria) into my skin and so that was the nurse did for my TB Skin test. I won't be able to know the result until Thursday since I have to return to the clinic on that day to see if I have any reactions with the PPD solution they put into my skin. I am a little bit worried about what the result might turn out because I have found out that there are lots of Filipinas who had a positive result on their TB skin test because they have been exposed to TB because of the environment of the Philippines but it doesn't mean that all of them have TB. I just hope and pray that my test will be fine and that no reactions will occur or whatsoever and that it would turn out completely negative so I could turn in my applications to the school that I will be enrolling before the week ends.

Tomorrow morning I will have my Physical Exam and have to get a certification from the doctor that I am physically fit to be a CNA. Hope things will work out best, wish me luck friends.

How to use Sunscreen Wisely:

1.Seek shade or make it. Don't use sunscreens as a first line of defense against melanoma or a license to bask in the sun, said Robert J. Davis, author of "The Healthy Skeptic" (University of California Press, $21.95).

Instead, stay out of the sun at peak hours—10 a.m. to 4 p.m.—and "cover up with dark-colored clothing that's made of tightly woven fabric or specially treated to block UV radiation," Davis wrote.

2.The oxybenzone debate. The EWG recommends avoiding sunscreens containing the commonly used chemical oxybenzone out of concern that it can disrupt hormones, cause allergic reactions and damage cells.

"It's one of the most absorbed sunscreen blockers, which wouldn't necessarily be a concern but it has high toxicity issues," said EWG senior analyst Sonya Lunder.

But the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends oxybenzone because it ensures "broad-spectrum" coverage, which means it filters out both UVA and UVB light. Pick your side.

3. Be wary of "seals of approval." The AAD has been criticized by some of its members for its commercial endorsement of sunscreens. Many AAD officers have ties to companies that manufacture sunscreens. One product with the AAD seal, Johnson & Johnson's Aveeno Sunblock Lotion with SPF 55, contains oxybenzone; it scored a "moderate" risk in the EWG rankings.

• The Skin Cancer Foundation also has a "seal of recommendation" program. But "the main criterion for displaying the seal is donating $10,000 to SCF to join the Corporate Council," Davis wrote.
• For a fee, sunscreen manufacturers such as Neutrogena display the American Cancer Society logo on their products. Only one Neutrogena product—the mineral-based Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Sunblock Lotion, SPF 30—is recommended by EWG.
• The Sun Safety Alliance, which promotes sunscreen use, was founded by the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, whose members sell sunscreens, and Schering-Plough, maker of Coppertone, according to Davis.

4. Don't rely on SPFs. The Sun Protection Factor numbers (SPFs) refer only to the ability to deflect UVB rays. Look for "broad spectrum" to protect against both UVA and UVB rays. An SPF 30 screens 97 percent of UVB rays; an SPF 15 screens 93 percent of UVB rays. Rather than reach for SPF 70, apply a lower number generously and often.

5. Use at least 7 percent zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Zinc and titanium act as a physical barrier on the skin and, unlike other sunscreen chemicals, don't penetrate the skin, don't show hormone-like activity, don't break down in the sun and block a wider spectrum of the sun's rays than other products.

Just would like to share this poem written by Agatha Weeks.

Sad Eyes

Hello, my name is Maggie, and I am four years old. I'm cute and loving,
have big brown eyes, and a mouth full of pearly white teeth.

I make my home in my family's back yard, where I spend my life enclosed
within a dog pen.

When I first arrived at my new home, I was so happy, and was loved by
all. I had so much love to give, and was "the apple of their eye". I
was even allowed to spend the night in little Jimmy's room and sleep at
the foot of his bed, for I had learned to potty outside, and not tear up
his shoes.

Everything was going great for me. I loved my new little family, and
longed to be with them, and please them. I could hardly wait for little
Jimmy to come home from school so that he could play with me.

But suddenly, when becoming one year old, my life took a drastic turn.
For now that I was no longer "the cute little pup on the block", and the
newness of having me had worn off, no one paid any attention to me any
more, and now I was all alone.

Then one day, little Jimmy's father came and grabbed me by the neck, and
drug me to a cage in the back of our yard. This would become my new
home; a place for me to live out the remainder of my life.

Days would come and go, and I'd long to see them so, but that didn't
happen any more. Other than the minute or two that it took little Jimmy
to throw food and water into my cage, I saw no one.

I'd sit in my cage all day long, trying my best to see what the world
was like on the other side of the fence; fearing I'd never know. I'd
hear children playing in the distance, yearning for them to speak to me;
fearing they never would.

Then came the winter winds, chilling me to the bone as I lay shivering
alone in the dark night. I could hardly wait for the morning sun to
warm me, while all along still dreading the beginning of a new day.

I could only wonder why my family kept me. Why hadn't they had the
decency to give me to another family who'd love me, not just as a little
pup, but forever, even though I'd grown up and the excitement was over.

If only for a moment my family would walk in my paws, they'd know that I
too have feelings, for I hurt, cry, and even dream of being free one
day. But you know, they never will, for to them I'm just a dog.

Maybe one day before I'm dead and gone, they'll realize how sad they've made my
life by denying me the privilege of being loved. If not by their family,
through the loving arms of an adopted one.

Summer Health Tips for Pets

Summertime temperatures and humidity, parked cars, jogging, beaches, swimming pools and "the wind in your face" can be hazardous to your pet's health.

Leave your pets at home: Don't let that eager look as you pull out the keys cloud your judgment. Even if you park in the shade and there's a nice breeze blowing outside, the temperature inside a car can shoot up to dangerous levels within minutes (120 degrees or higher!) even with the windows down. Unlike humans, pets cannot perspire to cool themselves. The movement of air into and out of the lungs allows them to maintain their normal body temperature. Panting and salivation are outward signs that your pet is overheating. When humidity and temperature exceed beyond the point at which these cooling mechanisms can maintain body heatstroke results which - and that can mean permanent brain damage or even death to your pet. So don't take chances with your pet's life - leave him at home!!

Shelter: Dogs and cats need to have a cool place to stay when the summer temperatures soar, either inside or out. When it's really hot, the shade from a tree will not keep your pet cool enough. He needs a doghouse or other shelter to protect from the heat. Dogs and cats can get sunburned just like people. Their ears and noses which are not protected by thick fur are especially susceptible.

Water: Make sure your pet always has access to cool, clean water, especially in the summer heat. Refill overturned bowls and freshen water, but never give your pet ice water, which can shock the system, and cause severe upsets.

Beach and Pool: If you take your pet to the beach, be sure to provide ample shade as well, and hose him down after he has swum in the salt water. Protect your pet's feet from the hot sand or pavement. Dog's and cat's foot pads are very sensitive to heat and can easily blister.

While many pets love to swim, chlorinated water irritates your pets eyes, and heat and sunlight around a pool are intense. Never leave your pet unattended around a pool. Once in, a dog cannot get out without help, and may soon panic and drown.

Ticks and Fleas: Carefully go over your pets body at least once a week to check for fleas, ear mites and tiny bumps or cuts. Bring your pet to the vet for a spring/summer check-up and use a good flea and tick repellant that your veterinarian recommends. This can come in the form of a dietary supplement or a powder or spray.

Hair is a natural insulator whether the it is warm or cool. In the summer, an animal's coat insulates against sun, heat and insect bites. Regular brushing removes dirt and loose undercoat, which cleans and cools your pet. When you brush, check around the ears, between toes, along the legs, at the lower abdomen and base of tail.

Travel: If you plan to take your pet on a long car trip, take him on several short trips to condition him for the journey. Travel can be very stressful for a pet: try to eliminate as much of the stress as possible. When taking your dog in the car have your pet ride completely inside the car with you, just like any other member of the family. Pets allowed to ride with their heads out the window and those relegated to the back of a pick-up truck are in danger of injury from debris embedding itself in their eyes, nostrils, ear canals, and throat. Pets riding in the back of a pick-up truck can overheat from the sun off reflected roadways or be injured during a rough ride, or actually be thrown out onto the road, if you brake suddenly.

Exercise: Dogs are naturally designed for sprinting, not for uninterrupted running or jogging. During such exercise, the body temperature rises faster than excess heat can be dissipated. In the summer, exercise of any kind should be cut back and limited to the cooler, early morning or later evening hours.

Beautiful Morning....

It's a beautiful Thursday morning, time flies by so fast isn't it? How's your morning so far? Mine is good, we have a beautiful warm weather today. Hubby came home from work at around 6 a.m. since he works graveyard shift which is 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. It's really a hard schedule for him and for me also because I didn't get enough sleep at night without him beside me. But I'm getting use to it, I have my brat cat (Tiger) that sleeps with me in bed the whole time to keep me company and I also have my brat dog (Bandit) sleeps inside our bedroom though he sleeps on his little bed in the corner of our bedroom. Right now hubby is asleep and so does Tiger, ha,ha you will not believe how this cat of ours act like human. She could stay in bed the whole night with me sleeping and even lay her head down next to me on my pillow. Sometimes she would lay in between my legs, isn't she a spoiled brat? Even if she had slept the whole night since hubby is in bed asleep, she was also there with him. When I woke up this morning when hubby came Tiger and bandit also got up and went to the living room then Tiger eat some of her cat food and then went back to bed with hubby. This cat is so attached to hubby and me that she thinks we are her mommy and daddy. Well, we treat her like our baby too.

The day just ended too fast, things went well today. Got a lot of things done just doing housechores. I was too lazy updating my blogs lately but hoping to do better in the coming days. Nice visit with parents-in-laws

Hubby and I just got back home earlier from Old Chicago to have lunch with Mom Janie and Step-dad Gene. We had a nice visit with them and had a great lunch too. It's always good to see both of them and spend time talking with them, it's been almost a month that we didn't have a get together with them since they just got back from Mom's family reunion in Alabama. Mom brought me something which she knew that I would like best, the baked beans and she gave hubby a late birthday gift which she forgot to give when she came over to give hubby's birthday presents. Hubby got excited when he knew that there's another present for him. It's a foot massager which hubby used just a minute ago and he liked it so good coz it's relaxing to his feet.

Mom and step-dad went back to their home in Montrose which is an hour drive from our place. I am looking forward to see them again next week.

Too quick to loose it.....

Geezzz, I thought I could grab another Opp from PPP. These Opps are just to quick to loose them but too hard to grab them. It happend twice just a couple of minutes ago. First I reserved the second opp and then start writing a review for it then posted it on my blog by the time I submitted my post it said I did not reserve for the Opportunity and so the submission failed. Toink! how come? if I didn't reserved the opp I shouldn't have known the links and the requirements the advertiser wanted to post in that particular opp right? That is a big GRRR......!!!! seriously. The second is I tried checking again if there is any available opp and I saw one that is yellowgreen so I click it right away to reserve it and answered the captcha question and submitted it right away but it took it longer to load the page I don't know if it's my computer or the PPP site itself it then all of a sudden it said that all opps were already taken. Another toink! what a bummer....

I know he is a great illusionist, he does it naturally and I couldn’t figure out how he does it. Believe me, it's unbelievably amazing!
